Turns out Microsoft Excel has never been so popular. Despite abundant accounting systems and reporting tools – many availed as pay-as-you-go cloud services – GlobalBizpro director Grant Harwood says Excel still reigns supreme when it comes to customised business reporting for live accounting systems data.
His assessment follows a busy six-weeks for GlobalBizpro, over which time the company delivered 12 fully-booked Microsoft Excel training workshops, including one-day introductory workshop Discovering Excel and advanced three-day workshop Excel on Steroids. Harwood says GlobalBizpro will soon announce a more advanced course for auditors, which it will jointly promote with a local CA partner.
Harwood says the response to GlobalBizpro’s Excel training workshops is behind the launch of a dedicated 16-seat training facility the company expects to open next month.
He says better integration of accounting systems and Microsoft SQL database had reinvigorated interest in Excel reporting among accountants and finance managers.
“The age of re-punching data is over. Now, a single click connects data sources and populates Excel reporting with live systems data. More software vendors actively integrate reporting tools, making it easier to extract data and render it in Excel.”
Harwood says GlobalBizpro’s Excel training workshops are extremely practical, rather than being manual-centric and concentrated to Excel functionality. “Our courses are practical and follow real life reporting scenarios. We use 150 exercises based on business reporting challenges that have been solved with Excel.”
Workshop attendees receive three months of email support, exercises and additional tips and tricks.
