Connected Educator Month (CEM) begins on 1 October and brings a new approach to educators’ professional learning by bringing networking, knowledge, professional development and community together all online, all October.
CEM is a cornucopia of online events and activities including forums and conversations with experts, webinars, virtual guided tours, book groups, Maori and Pasifika learning, live streams from CORE Education’s ULearn14 Conference and much more.
The events are pulled together in a collaborative, online calendar that will connect you, kura, early childhood services and other learning centres, with thousands of like-minded educators from around the globe.
Be a connected educator. He whatunga tangata, he whatunga mātanga. CEM will give you the opportunity to engage in professional learning conversations in safe online spaces, help you to develop online and digital skills, grow your professional networks and transfer your knowledge back to your own learners and colleagues.
Be a connected leader and share your own event
CORE Education, as the lead CEM coordinator, invite other organisations, educators and leaders to showcase their professional learning online during October. To run an event, all you do is add your event to the calendar.
You can offer any online event or activity, such as sharing and promoting educational stories, resources or services or raising awareness of services. To help you plan your event, we’ve put together some tips and advice.
Curious about online communities, blogging and social media?
CEM is ideal for you! For beginners who want to learn about digital technologies and use them more effectively, try the Starter Kete/Kit, 31 days of online learning from the basics ‘what is a hashtag’ and creating your own digital story through to how you can implement that in the classroom.
Spread the word
To spread the word to your fellow educators, CORE Education have put together resources, posters and logos that you can download, add to your website or online profile, email or print a copy for your staffroom.
CORE believes that together we can be stronger and move on the digital technology pathway in a shared, collaborative approach. Ka kaha ake tātou mēnā e whai wāhi ana te katoa ki te whakawhanake, ki te tuari hoki i te ara rawa hangarau.
